When Words Are Not Enough: A Poem
Have you ever had a feeling
You couldn’t put to words?
Overwhelmed you with emotion
But put its finger to your lips
.
Put a sparkle in your eye
And tickles in your tummy
Filled you with sensation
Stole the breath out of your nostrils
.
My ears overwhelmed by silence
The face warming like an oven
Finger tingling spreading
Down to the toe tips
.
So happy you feel like crying
So sad you feel like laughing
Angry about your confusion
How love and hate are perfection
.
I’d speak if words had no limits
I’d breathe if my lungs weren’t empty
Some experiences are better in silence
For words are not enough to know it
You couldn’t put to words?
Overwhelmed you with emotion
But put its finger to your lips
.
Put a sparkle in your eye
And tickles in your tummy
Filled you with sensation
Stole the breath out of your nostrils
.
My ears overwhelmed by silence
The face warming like an oven
Finger tingling spreading
Down to the toe tips
.
So happy you feel like crying
So sad you feel like laughing
Angry about your confusion
How love and hate are perfection
.
I’d speak if words had no limits
I’d breathe if my lungs weren’t empty
Some experiences are better in silence
For words are not enough to know it
