Words Are Never Nothing: A Poem
Even if random or placed out of order
Spoken by one can erect a border
Written by one can cut a life shorter
Words are not nothing
A word spoken in vain is a great offense
A contradiction for which there is no recompense
credibility lost leaves one without defense
Words are something even if empty
Words can sooth the wounds of the soul like a balm
A pacifying word can bring a storm to a calm
Destructive words can explode like napalm
Words require caution
Heartfelt words can evoke love and affection
But too often repeated will cause an infection
Sporadically spoken might get mixed reactions
Words are duplicitous
Words can make you laugh or make you cry
Planes inscribe letters over the sky
“Any last words before you die?”
Words never end
We think in words even though you can’t hear
Inaudible sounds resonate in my ear
Ringing so loud I can see them appear
Do the deaf hear words in their mind when they read?
Do the blind see words when they feel?
Words are everything.
Silence is just holding words back
Thinking and feeling the things you retract
The damage is done without speaking, fact
Words are inevitable
A word is a word even when it’s nothing
